13 Jun Roman Stunning Starter!
On Monday 11th June Year 3 began their new Roman topic with a stunning starter! They had the chance to dress up as Romans for the whole day and experience what life might have been like around 2000 years ago! Throughout the day, the children were able to create their own mosaics, make and paint a shield, have a taste of typical Roman foods and finally end the day with an amazing, immersive theatrical experience.
Jayden D’Souza has given his recount of the day:
On Monday 11th June, Year 3 got to dress up as Romans to link with their History topic. Firstly, we had a look at Roman mosaics and we got to create our very own ones of them. Then we had the chance to do some food tasting and we got to taste some of the food that they ate in Roman times. We tasted grapes, figs, feta cheese, dates, salami, pitta bread, hummus, honey and olives. Most people hated the feta cheese but loved the salami! After break we painted Roman shields and the colours we used were gold, bronze silver and red. Finally, after lunch we did a bit more of our mosaics and then all of Year 3 got to act in a theatre workshop! In the workshop we all learnt and acted out some stories of the Romans. It was the best day ever!
