11 Jul Slipper spectacular!
Year 6 have had a fantastic time researching, planning, designing and making their fantastic slippers! Using market research they carried out within their classes, the children had to decide on target audience, colour and design. They then designed their slippers based on their market research answers and for homework had to source some of their materials. Yesterday (Monday 10th July), the children began to create their designs. It was great to see their plans come into fruition! Initially, the teachers provided the children felt for their insole and toe section, as well as a soft neoprene foam for the sole of their slipper. They were given needles and thread, and using their experience of sewing and a quick reminder of the different techniques they could use the children were able to create some really excellent end products. Have a click through the pictures of some of the designs from the year group!
At the start of the topic, we did market research on slippers and what we liked about them. With the results, we then planned our slippers – the colour, design and age range. Then we brought in the materials and started making. During this process, we drew the template; cut it out from the fabric; stitched it together and began to design the toe section – that was the fun bit! We found tying the knots difficult but in the end we persevered and succeeded! After we made our slippers, we had to test them to make sure they worked! We had lots of fun!
