18 Dec Delicious and delectable truffles in D.T.
Year 6 spent the day on Monday making their truffles which will be going into their recycled packaging as part of their D.T. work this half term. The children have looked at a variety of different Christmas related chocolate packaging which they analysed, looked at the pros and cons of their shapes, size, colour and design and decided how best their own design might fit into the market. Working together in small groups, the children were asked to follow a very specific brief.
The children had to bear in mind, during the planning process that their packaging would be made from as much recycled material as possible. They designed the shape and size of their packaging after looking at a number of different nets. We had a variety of ideas from cuboids to triangular prisms. Being mindful of how easy the shape was to make and how they might seal their packaging the children began to design the outside of the packaging – again, we had a variety of designs – Christmas trees; presents; ribbons; glitter and paint.
All of year 6 should be incredibly proud of their outcomes; they have created appropriate packaging which fits their brief of recycled materials; a design to attract a target audience of 7-11 and suitable to sell at the Christmas Eco-fair. Well done Year 6!
