15 Mar Superschools stunting!
We were on the edge of our seats when World Champion free-rider, Grant ‘Chopper’ Fielder came to visit us for our eagerly awaited stunt day. Alongside Grant, we were visited by Julien Golley, Commonwealth Gold medallist; former Olympian and World Champion athlete. Julian put the children and adults through their paces in a variety of heart pumping exercises. The exercises ranges from high-knees to push ups and also spotty dogs! He was trying to highlight that exercise and being active can be done anywhere and even a small amount of time can make a huge difference. As a reward for their hard work, well-known fruit distributor Fyffes were on hand to give every child a banana to replenish their energy!
All the children were photographed with Grant and will get a copy of this picture, along with his autograph.
The pièce de résistance then was the stunts. As you can imagine, the stunts Grant performs are incredibly daring and dangerous, so on the day his safety was paramount. It was very wet and especially windy on Tuesday and although the stunts that Grant performed were amazing, he was very wary of the impact of the weather conditions. He was able to perform a series of excellent jumps as well as a stomach-churning flip!
Thank you to our Sports Leaders: Ewan Carter-Donald, Bradley Harding, Sarai Findlay, Emily Walton and Isla Kirk. They did an excellent job modelling the different exercises and helping to organise the different classes throughout the morning.
