04 Apr Year 4 residential
Year 4 had an amazing time away on the residential trip at Juniper Hall this term and have come back with long lasting memories! The children enjoyed shelter making in the forest and working in teams using the twigs, logs and trees around them to make a sheltered space for them to all sit in! Good job that we had our waterproofs! We also had the chance to safely catch mammals around the site by setting up traps with food and hay; these were for shrews, voles and doormouse that are local to the area. We weren’t so lucky in catching any but we did get to hear and see many other animals during our stay.
Year 4 children also got the chance to do some orienteering and using our map reading skills to find different letters around the site of Juniper Hall.
One of the most enjoyable things that children enjoyed was sharing a dormitory for the first time ( and making their beds!!) but most of all, toasting delicious marshmallows by the campfire and singing campfire songs such as, ‘ I’ve been eaten by a Boa constrictor…”
We returned to school happy, tired and grateful for such a wonderful experience.
