05 Apr A Dragon’s Tale by Dylan Patel – Year 3
Jack lived with his grandma in a small valley called Meadowcreek. The valley during the day was just like any other, however when dusk fell all the residents locked their doors. The valley was at the foot of the caves where the fearsome dragon lived.
No one had ever ever seen the dragon, as any person who dared entered the cave never lived to tell the tale. The dragon, or so people believed, would roam at night to find its next meal.
Jack’s grandma would tell him about the dragon every night before he would go to sleep, and Jack would dream of the day he would be able to defeat the mighty dragon.
One night when Jack couldn’t sleep, he heard screams in the distance…he bolted for the door unable to hide his fear. Something had to be done and it was up to Jack to defeat the dragon.
At Jack left the house, he looked up at the night sky, and he saw the golden tail of the dragon heading towards the cave. Jack ran towards it, his heart pounding and hands shaking. As he arrived at the mouth of the cave, he crept towards the warm shimmering light. Taking one step at a time, the sound of crunching leaves echoed around him. He looked down, they were no leaves, there were bomes scattered across the cave. He ran as quick as he could, but the noise alerted the dragon….this was it.
