05 Apr A Little Somebody in my Garden by Sophia Hart – Year 4
Hi my name is Sophia and I am going to tell you about an unnamed intelligent insect called Basil but I call him Bas for short. Bas lives in my large, overgrown garden and is always slithering about searching for lettuce to munch on greedily.
One day after snail school, it started to rain and as Bas was gliding home, he found a puddle and decided to take a small slurp as he was quite thirsty. Imagine his alarm when on bending his big bulgy eyes he discovered another snail starting rudely at him.
Even more rudely was when Bas tried to take another slurp of water the other snail did too.
“Don’t you have any manners?” said Bas but other snail did not reply. After a while, Basils mum came to search for him.” Where have you been?” said Mrs snail. Look mummy I have found a new friend!” said Bas. “don’t be silly” said Mrs snail it is your reflection! Bas slithered away a little sad thinking he’d found a new pal.
A few days later Basil grew sad because he had not got a friend even though he was having fun playing with his action figures and reading story books with happy endings. The next day he saw a new pupil at snail school so he decided to say hello. In class they got to know each other more and they became great friends. His name was Jemmy Wilson.
