05 Apr Bough Beech Trip
Year 6 had a fantastic and informative trip to the SES water treatment works in Bough Beech on Tuesday and Wednesday. The children were taken all around the treatment works by Nick and Jo, who did a brilliant job engaging the children and explaining the different parts of the cleaning process. There were 8 processes in total and we were lucky enough to see most of these in action. Along with seeing the different processes Year 6 were taken to the reservoir which is a massive 25 meters deep. They learnt that the reservoir gets filled by the River Eden and there are certain months of the year that the reservoir cannot take from the River. Up to 55 millions litres of water is treated a day, which then gets sent out to all our lovely homes!
The children also got insight into how much water an average family uses daily and different ways that we are able to save water. Hopefully the children will be able to educate their siblings and family to help our little part of the world.
