24 May Year 6 R.E. Day
On Monday, volunteers from Sutton Schools Work came into Holy Trinity to spend a day with our Year 6’s. It was a interactive and fun day that explored the theme of ‘What does it feel like to belong?’ Using the story of Saul and Ananias, the children discussed how even though Saul persecuted Christians initially, he was transformed after a visit from God. Ananias was asked by God to help Saul spread the word of the Christian faith. We talked about forgiveness; how people can change and the importance of belonging.
Nicky Cruz, was another character we explored. We looked at his past life as a troubled young man, who is now a modern day example of how Christianity can transforms somebodies life and make them feel like they belong. Further exploring belonging, using play dough we thought about how we felt like we belonged; who cared for us and a how they make us feel like we belong, whether it be in a team, as part of a family or a wider community.
The children had a wonderful time delving into the theme of belonging.
Thank you to Sarah and Kate who spent the day with us!
