30 Apr Amazing Art week !
What an amazing Art week at Holy Trinity! This year, we had 3 strands to our Art week.
1) Individual response: . We invited all year groups to explore key themes and ideas around the Easter story and respond in their own way. Each year group had a key word to express artistically and you will see such a range of ideas and in! From rocks paintings, stained glass windows, model clay sculptures of the Easter story, comic strips, word art, decorative prayers and crosses.
2) Year group response with a specific material: Across the school, children worked with a range of materials. Year 3 used watercolours and card to create ‘crucifixion as sunset pictures’ . Year 4 used printing ink and styrofoam to create fantastic Easter inspired relief prints. Year 5 used chalk pastels to created decorative Easter crosses and Year 6 to create a large scale version of Van Gogh’s garden of Gesathame. It was wonderful to see children trying something new and collaborating
3) Topic Ending: As part of the Art curriculum, children learn about famous artists, their style and art movements. To bring their topic to a close, each year group created a final artwork inspired by their artists. In Year 3, you will see fantastic sketch and watercolour drawings in the style of Oenone Hammersley. In Year 4, amazing bright and bold Pablo Picasso portraits. In Year 5, closing their extreme earth topic, they completed a large-scale paint project showing the wonderful colours of Spring. Finally in Year 6, they challenged themselves to complete their own versions on the Vitruvian Man- superhero style and perspective sketch drawings.
