19 Nov The Wonders of Wembley
ENGLAND VS. MONTENEGRO
An abundance of fun was had by both the children and the adults at last night’s Wembley Stadium match. Watching England and win their 1000th match, which was also their penultimate Euro 2020 qualifier, the children were alight with excitement and the stadium was a buzz of anticipation! It was unfortunate, due to traffic that we missed some of the first half, however, once seated it didn’t take us long to get into the match spirit. The children were hooked by not only the sheer size of the stadium, but also the atmosphere and number of people. Flags were being waved, cheers and chants were being chanted and we all got into the spirit of the game. It was clear from the start that England were going to win, but for the children to experience the stadium and the electricity of the match, with such grace, poise and exemplary behaviour was so warming for all of us adults.
All the children chosen were fantastically behaved; they listened to instructions well; were asking lots of inquisitive questions and wholeheartedly enjoyed themselves. Well done all – I think we will have had some very tired children (and adults) in school today.
Thank you also to the parents who were so patient with us. The car park took nearly 45 minutes to get out of and technical issues for information to get onto the website did not help. Thank you all so much for your support and understanding and coming out in your pyjamas to pick the children up. Most of them were able to have a snooze on the coach! We know the children had a great time and we are so proud that they represented the school so positively.
A massive thank you also to the adults from Holy Trinity who volunteered to accompany the children!
