Since singing is a key part of our worship in a Church of England school, music also plays a significant role in the spiritual life of our school.
At Holy Trinity we provide opportunities for all children to create, play, perform, appreciate and enjoy music. The learning opportunities in music that we provide for children at our school allow them to develop artistically, creatively, emotionally, physically and spiritually. We aim to engage and inspire pupils to develop a love of music and to develop their talent as musicians, and so increase their self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement. As pupils progress, they listen to and make music from a wide range of eras and musical styles. All pupils in Year 3 learn to play the ocarina, Year 4s learn to play the recorder and Year 5 and 6 pupils add to these tuned and untuned percussion to respond to and join in with the different music styles studied and to create their own music too.
Year 4s in particular use the Charanga Music World website (www.charangamusicworld.co.uk – ask your music teacher for your login details)
If you have a tablet at home, then GarageBand (free on the AppStore for Apple devices) is a great tool for creating and exploring music, and the BBC Bitesize KS2 Music Page is a great place for checking your understanding
