Eco Council
Our Eco Council work hard to promote everyone’s awareness of environmental issues and discuss ways to make our school kinder to our planet. We discuss issues with our classes, in assemblies, in the school newsletter and hold events to help ensure that everyone plays their part in creating an eco-friendly school.
Some of the messages we deliver in our school are:
- Switch off the lights and projector when they leave the room
- Use the recycling bin to recycle paper and card
- Use paper on both sides before it is thrown away
- Throw away fruit waste in the compost bin
- Ask teachers to turn the heating down before opening extra windows
Our Eco Council conducts an environmental review every year which looks at nine topics: energy, water, biodiversity, school grounds, healthy living, transport, litter, waste and global citizenship to see how well our school are doing. We then create an action plan to address some of the issues.
At Holy Trinity, we have an Eco Code that helps our school community understand the ways in which we can look after our school environment. Through all our hard work, we hope we will soon be able to apply for our Green Flag award .
Our Eco council run an amazing Christmas Eco fair every year, where all of the items sold are made from recycled materials. Just brilliant!
If you have any suggestions and ideas that would help make our school even more environmentally friendly, we would love to hear your ideas!
