Sutton Netball Champions!

On Saturday, our Y6 netball girls took part in the yearly Sutton Netball Rally and Overton Grange. It was a nerve-wracking start for us as the girls took a while to settle into the quick tournament style set up. The matches were 5 minutes each-way with a quick change over at half time. Showing a lot of resilience throughout the first part of the morning, the girls really kept us and their supporters on the edges of our seats by winning, drawing and losing a match. Fortunately, this meant that we came runners up in our group A and went through to the semi-finals to play the two year reigning champions. By this point in the morning, our girls had played 3 challenging matches but still showed such determination to get through to the finals, which they did, by winning the semi-final 2-1. Going into the final game of the day and to play for the trophy, our girls had such confidence in themselves. They played some of the best netball we had seen and stormed through with a 4-0 win!! This is the first time Holy Trinity have won the Sutton Rally and it couldn’t have happened to a more deserving group of girls. They have worked so hard this year and it has really shown. The integrity and dignity they have consistently conveyed has been such a delight to see.

On Saturday, we won the Sutton Netball Rally at Overton Grange High School. Our first match was against St Cecilia’s and we drew 2-2. We felt very nervous going into this match! Our second game was against St Mary’s and we wont this match 2-1. Our final heat match was against Cheam Common. We knew we had to do well in this to get through to the semi-finals. We unfortunately lost this 1-2. We thought we weren’t going to get through to the next round but thankfully we cam runners up in our group and went on to play Dorchester. Our amazing coaches, Miss Alexander and Mrs Jules kept us motivated with lots of team talks throughout the day.In the semi-final, we came up against the two year reigning champions. It was a tough game but we stayed resilient and ended up winning 2-1! This took us into the final against Cheam Common, who we had previously lost against. We were so nervous but Miss Alexander and Mrs Jules reassured us that Holy Trinity have never been in the final before so what we had achieved by that point was already amazing. We went onto court with grit and determination and won the final 4-0!!! We were so unbelievably thrilled with ourselves and with how we played. We couldn’t believe we had actually won! It was such an amazing day and we were so happy to have experienced it. Thank you to Miss Alexander and Mrs Jules for everything they have done this year.
