Transitioning – Before September
To help your child transition smoothly from infant to junior school, we’ve designed a comprehensive programme that fosters a sense of belonging and excitement for their new adventure.
We understand that the transition can be a bit overwhelming, so we offer several opportunities for your child to become familiar with our school environment before the academic year starts. These include:
- Open Mornings: You and your child are invited to attend our open mornings to explore our facilities, meet our friendly staff, and get a feel for the warm and welcoming atmosphere at Holy Trinity.
- Taster Sessions: Your child will have the opportunity to spend time in their new classroom, meet their future teacher, and interact with their new classmates through engaging activities and games.
Summer Term Activities
Throughout the summer term, we actively engage with any feeder schools, including Beddington Infants and other surrounding schools, to ensure a seamless transition for all incoming pupils. This includes:
- Information Sharing: We work closely with infant school teachers to share relevant information about your child’s learning style, strengths, and areas for development.
- Collaborative Planning: We collaborate with infant schools to plan joint activities and events that help prepare children for the transition to junior school.
- Regular Communication: We maintain open lines of communication with both parents and infant school staff to address any concerns or questions that may arise during the transition process.
- Children visit to see their new class, be familiar with the building and enjoy the Year 6 production.
After September
Once the school year begins, we continue to support your child’s transition through:
- Induction Activities: We organize various induction activities to help children settle into their new routine, build relationships with their peers, and develop a sense of belonging.
- Parent Information Sessions: We hold information sessions for parents to address any questions or concerns and to provide guidance on how to support your child’s learning at home.
- Individual Support: Our dedicated teachers and support staff are always available to provide individual support and guidance to ensure your child’s smooth transition and continued success at Holy Trinity.
- October 1-1 meeting between parents and teachers online.
- February 1-1 meetings in the school building, looking at children’s progress – in their work.
We believe that a well-planned and supportive transition is key to your child’s happiness and success in junior school. At Holy Trinity, we are committed to providing a nurturing environment where every child can flourish.
